32nd Chatak Monsoon Show 2026: A Celebration of Diversity, Imagination and Contemporary Expression

The 32nd Chatak Monsoon Show 2026 once again reaffirmed its position as one of Maharashtra’s most eagerly awaited annual art exhibitions. Organized as a platform for both emerging and established artists, the exhibition continues to embody the spirit of the legendary Chatak bird—symbolizing anticipation, hope and creative renewal. This year’s edition, held from 23rd to 29th June 2026, attracted nearly 482 applications from across India, from which 76 artists and sculptors were selected through a rigorous screening process. The exhibition has evolved into a truly national event, drawing participation from artists representing diverse regions including Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Hyderabad, Goa and Maharashtra.

A walk through the exhibition revealed a remarkable diversity of artistic languages and mediums. One of the most striking sculptural installations presented a whimsical yet thought-provoking commentary on contemporary society. Crafted with a weathered patina, the sculpture combined human forms with symbolic objects, including a figure emerging from a cylindrical structure bearing the image of Mahatma Gandhi. One large canvas employed subtle shades of grey, white and muted earth tones to create an atmospheric visual experience. Its tactile surfaces and earthy palette reflected a growing interest among contemporary artists in materiality and handcrafted aesthetics.
