ART - Passion unbound?

This article is part of a series being published by Romartikaspeaks on what art is. The author of the article, Artist Mamta Prasad, is an abstract artist. She calls her style - colourfooled. The name highlights how various spectrums of light can inspire varied feelings. She aims to provoke viewers to explore new dimensions within her art.

Mamta Prasad's view on art

What is Art ?

The gnawing enlightenment that sets off a deep rooted feeling of absolute bliss.

'Be Prepared', said Baden Powell. We stand out when we embrace our calling.

What drives us?

A path we embark upon considering the benchmark we set for ourself. It is the ever igniting gesture of total surrender and self- expression. A sense of desperate belongingness. A blast of manic forces pushing the boundary. Setting our expectations to give and get. Developing muscle memory. A dance with a bunch of synapses. The nervous system finds solace in the act of art. Rain, Reign, Rein. The nuances are subtle but the beauty lies in the process.

Who do we make art for?

To satisfy ones acumen and sense of purpose and being. It also serves as a language. A medium to be discovered and known. An imprint of an abstract repetitive action that culminates in a master piece. The fight to out do oneself.

We set standards to pursue excellence. The drive keeps us moving . We explore all parallel dimensions to give more of ourselves. Our perspective changes. We embrace newer outlooks as we commit the sharing of work and ideology bringing in a network of human homo Sapiens. We forge art as a faculty to unite outlooks. A beautiful woven tapestry of threads that look seamless. United by thought and intent it is like a click in space and time. It transcends the parallels and challenges status quo.

Art is the notion of finding freedom. Art is a mirror that resolves the duality of the viewer and the viewed. With an audience art becomes an experience. For me art is the revolving of the Planet earth held in a wildflower that is Fibonacci mirrored to your sensibilities.

The seashore, the chirping of birds, the intricate patterns left on the womb of the beach sand by hermit crabs, the spiral design of a nautilus - all of it resonate as works of art. The physical realm that encompasses life is itself a dynamic form of art.

Since ancient days, the festivity of the harvest season to religious occasions encourages the participation of people to celebrate art. Art is invoked by a deep passion and reverence by all. It moves people. It brings them together and binds them. Art can be personal, but it is also shared. The creation of art is a birth right. It releases one’s soul and brings forth a fervor that ignites minds and hearts.

A single artistic creation can lead to multiple Interpretations. It is a gift that keeps on giving.

A good piece of art conceals the artistry. Art encompasses divinity and is subtle in its effect on the viewer. It is a silent thought that unleashes a revolution.

Art is so much! Infinite.

What is art? You decide.

This was a nice read because it stayed simple and didn’t feel like it was trying to impress me with jargon. I liked how the ideas were broken up so you can skim, then jump back in when something catches your eye, and the quick examples made it easier to remember. Halfway through I ended up clicking around newimage.io too since it has that same “helpful but not preachy” vibe when you want a bit more context. What I appreciated most is it actually explains the reasoning behind the tips instead of just dumping a checklist. Also, the page itself is easy on the eyes, with clear headings and short paragraphs that don’t turn into a wall of text.
