Landscapes of the Soul: A Journey Through Art

Mumbai, April 29, 2025 – The Nehru Center Art Gallery in Worli recently hosted an evocative art exhibition titled "Landscapes of the Soul," featuring the works of Jesal Dalal and Hemali Shah. The exhibition, which ran from April 22 to 28, 2025, offered visitors a serene escape into the artists' inner worlds through their captivating artworks.

A Harmonious Duo, Jesal Dalal and Hemali Shah, though distinct in their artistic styles, shared a common goal: to express the unspoken emotions and inner landscapes that reside within us all. Their works, displayed side by side, created a harmonious blend of introspection and emotional depth.

Jesal Dalal's Tranquil Scenes are a breath of fresh air, inviting viewers to experience the tranquility of nature and introspection. Her use of subtle hues, soft brushwork, and the play of light creates scenes that are not just seen but felt. Jesal's background in architecture and interior design adds a unique dimension to her art, emphasizing emotional depth and the dissolution of form into atmosphere. Her style rings a bell of the classic sfumato technique of Leonardo De Vinci.

Hemali Shah's journey from Disney cartoons to fine arts has shaped her unique perspective on nature. Her watercolour paintings blend technical skill with a personal touch, reflecting her deep connection to the natural world. Hemali's work is grounded yet heartfelt, capturing not just what is seen but what is felt.

"Landscapes of the Soul" was more than just an exhibition; it was an invitation to reflect and connect with one's inner self. The artists' ability to convey silent emotions and fleeting thoughts through their art provided a rare opportunity for visitors to experience silence, softness, and space in the bustling city of Mumbai.

Attendees of the exhibition were treated to a visual and emotional journey, with each painting offering a glimpse into the artists' souls. The exhibition successfully created a space for emotion and introspection, making it a memorable event for all who attended.
